A bit about me
Before teaching English in Italy, I worked in Museum Education in London, managing programmes for schools and families at the Museum of London and Cutty Sark, a beautiful historic sailing ship.
I loved helping children explore stories from the past and create lasting memories through hands-on, immersive activities.
Then I met my (Italian) husband in 2013. We fell in love, and I moved to Italy...
My Italian was VERY basic, and communication was DIFFICULT, but I had a TEFL diploma and years of teaching experience, so I began teaching English to children and adults. It was great!
When a local primary school invited me to lead some CLIL projects, I jumped at the chance. I loved the idea of combining English with other subjects and was excited to be working with schools again.
Soon I was asked to train and coach teachers too. I met so many wonderful educators who wanted to do their best, but often struggled with their own English, or how best to teach it. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve heard: “English is a big problem in Italy.”
Since then, I’ve had two children and moved to Verona. I love it here, it reminds me a lot of my hometown, Oxford.
Now I work as a freelance teacher-trainer. I help teachers and school teams grow in confidence with English and CLIL by sharing clear methodology and creative strategies that make classrooms engaging and effective.
My approach is interactive, inclusive, student-centred and full of fun and challenges. I want children and teachers to enjoy English and really be able to use it. For me, it goes far beyond just learning the language.
